| Your celebrantAs your celebrant, I guide you in the unfolding of your ceremony. Your involvement in the creation of your ceremony may be large or small - whatever is comfortable for you. Vows, rituals (candles, wine, flowers, chanting...), poetry or prose, tributes to your family or friends, elements from your own or adopted cultural heritage, and the parts needed to make it legal - all of these make a ceremony for you. I provide you with the information and resources you need to choose the ceremony that is right for you. I am an authorised civil marriage celebrant based in South East Queensland, central to Tamborine Mountain, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Wongawallan, Beaudesert, Logan and northern New South Wales. Contact me to arrange an obligation-free consultation and quote for your special day. If you are coming from overseas or interstate, I can help you with your wedding ceremony in Queensland. |

| Rituals and Symbols A ritual is a ceremonial act - usually some physical act accompanied by some words of explanation of the symbolic nature of the ceremony. Including rituals in your ceremony gives it texture and depth and contrast. Feedback from many couples and their guests is that an included ritual can be a high point in the ceremony. For a wedding on the beach, you can include a sand ceremony, a wedding at a vineyard can include the "cup of life" wine ceremony or you may like to "tie the knot" literally with a handfasting ceremony. Flowers too can be used either in a ritual or as an unspoken symbol. For example, the frangipani has come to represent life, love and harmony - the beautiful fragrance is aphrodisiac. The five petals carry the energy of the number 5 - a continuing journey, an openness to new experiences, in astrology symbolising the house of romance and play and the inner child. As we journey into married life, we trust that our partner will love and nurture our inner child and that we will be inspired to allow a sense of wonder, discovery and play to bless our union.

| Readings and Music Music and readings are important for your ceremony, whether a wedding, naming, commitment ceremony, renewal of vows, or other ceremony. An uplifting piece of music at the end of your ceremony leaves everyone feeling buoyant and ready for the next step of your celebration. A romantic and traditional piece may herald the start of your ceremony - for an alternative ceremony, you may like some chanting or world music to start the proceedings. The readings you choose will depend on the type of ceremony you want - lighthearted, deeply romantic, spiritual, traditional or contemporary...

Ceremonies as individual as you arefor the special times in your lifeWelcome! I'd love to assist you with your ceremony. Every ceremony I create is written with you in mind - to suit you as an individual, you in partnership, your beliefs, your vision of your ceremony - whether it is your wedding, to welcome your baby into the world, to renew your vows or a commitment to your soulmate. Your ceremony will reflect who you are and be something you will remember all of your life. Your guests will enjoy your ceremony when they see that it expresses you, your heart and soul, your special day. Your civil ceremony allows you to express your feelings and beliefs while still honouring any time-honoured traditions that are meaningful to you. I will support you to add your own special touches to your ceremony and you can carry this through to your celebration afterwards. Themes can follow flowers, fancy dress, a colour, cultural and spiritual traditions, a season or mythic archetypes... You are welcome to have as much input into your ceremony as you wish to - I will work with your ideas or give you ideas to make your ceremony special and heart warming.About civil ceremonies Ceremonies help you to connect with your loved ones, with your family and friends - your community. As more and more people find that religious ceremonies are not meeting their needs as individuals, civil ceremonies can fill the gap - your wedding ceremony can still incorporate religious or spiritual elements if you wish but you definitely do not have to - it is always your choice. A baby naming takes the place of a christening or baptism, honouring the gift of your child, a coming of age ceremony for a teenager replaces confirmation or bat mitzvah or bar mitzvah, a celebration of life or memorial service can honour your beliefs and those of the one you have lost. A renewal of vows on the anniversary of your marriage or commitment ceremony can reaffirm your relationship and put new energy into it. Or it may be a way of having a wedding ceremony with all the trimmings if you missed out on a full scale wedding when you did marry. As a civil marriage celebrant, this gives me a lot of choice in designing your ceremony for your particular circumstances - a one parent family, same sex partners, a separated family - some traditional religious ceremonies and forms may not be flexible enough to do this. Your ceremony can also inlcude very traditonal elements if you wish. Although same sex ceremonies are not legally recognised in Australia, a commitment ceremony is a way of publicly proclaiming your commitment to each other - it can be a traditional or contemporary ceremony. You are welcome to talk to me about the type of ceremony you want - my aim is to create a ceremony with you that is as individual as you are and that you will cherish always.
